ATTACHMENT FOCUSED THERAPY

Our early experiences with primary caregivers, along with interactions with other important figures in our lives, form an "imprint" that shapes how we perceive ourselves, others, and relationships.

For many, key relationships at various life stages may have involved unmet needs or challenging events. My goal is to make our relationship a safe space healing attachment issues by prioritizing your needs, preferences, and pace while remaining attuned to you. In this way, our relationship can be integrated- lending itself as you create new ways of connecting in your relationships.

PARTS WORK
(IFS , EGO STATES & STRUCTURAL DISSOCIATION MODEL)

We all have parts!

"Parts of self" are unique states of mind characterized by distinct patterns of thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, behaviors and images- embedded within us from childhood.

For example- we may have an "inner helper", that was formed early in childhood when self soothing was fundamental, which comes into play as a calming presence when we encounter tough situations.

Or an "inner critic" - calling us out for our actions or thoughts, as a means to feel in control and spare us any anticipated criticism from others.

Or an "inner kiddo" - created when we felt unseen back in childhood, getting agitated today when feeling unvalidated.

In PARTs WORK THERAPY - we strive to get in touch with those different parts of ourselves. We invite different aspects of us to have a voice, as to understand what is triggering and what can be soothing.

Observing different aspects of ourselves allows us to grow our perspective and enhance our self compassion.

EMDR

EMDR is an approach that has gained extensive empirical support in treating trauma. It is based on the Adaptive Information Model, which asserts that traumatic experiences are stored as isolated fragments in our brain, unintegrated into our sense of self.

In EMDR you are invited to connect with various elements of the adverse event from your current perspective: what you see/perceive, feel, sense in your body and believe about your self - in relation to the event.

Then bilateral stimulation (visual/ tactile/ auditory) is applied, which promotes both access to the isolated traumatic memory in a calming and mindful manner, as well as linking it up with positive experiences already stored in your brain.

This allows for feelings, thoughts and bodily sensations relating to the memory to TRANSFORM, making room for positive beliefs about oneself in the memory - to manifest.

KAP (KETAMINE ASSISTED PSYCHOTHERAPY)

Ketamine is an innovative treatment that can reduce symptoms of anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD and addictive behaviors while also boosting self compassion.

It has shown to have rapid and durable effects when taken several times within a short period of time, in a therapy setting.

Ketamine's mechanism may create CHANGE in mental health conditions, due to the changes it creates in our brain which include -

  • Enhancing brain cell growth (dendrites), and their ability to form connections with each other in areas relating to emotions, memory and learning.

  • Lowering activation in areas relating to our "Sense of Self" (Lowering tendency to ruminate).

  • Increasing our ability to apply more "Advanced thinking"; reasoning, problem solving, creativity, and willed action - when processing external information.

  • Improving our ability to incorporate more "Advanced thinking skills" into "Our Sense of Self".

As such, combined with therapy, Ketamine allows us to grow new ways of relating to ourselves and others.
